“I am the me I choose to be.”
Sidney Poitier

In my work as a psychotherapist, I find purpose in helping my clients change in meaningful ways that ultimately leads to them living better lives.

Dr. Robert Gardner

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Louisiana conducting individual therapy with adult clients. In 2008 I earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of New Orleans. My clinical experience involves work in hospital settings treating the psychosocial impact of cancer and other chronic illnesses on patients and their caregivers.

Since 2015 I’ve served Northshore residents in my private practice conducting therapy with individuals and couples seeking to overcome depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, grief, and ADHD. To achieve positive outcomes for my clients I adhere to the principles of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) blended with elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My goal in using this approach is to address my clients’ mental health and stress-related conditions while enhancing their overall well-being through mindfulness.

What to expect

As is true in most aspects of life, one approach is not a fit for everyone. Every person is unique. With that in mind, my approach to therapy is flexible to account for the individuality of each client. Despite the unique needs of each client, therapy is most effective when following a process that promotes clarity and change. I believe I best serve my clients by helping them truly “know” themselves, so they are better able to make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives.
